Pulaski County Area Technology Center:

Principal Beth Hargis with Carpentry Instructor Bob Super

Here students get college credit classes earned free of charge, and when they pass the courses offered at Pulaski County Technology Center, they are “officially certified” and can work in those occupations – that’s a deal that bolsters resumes for college, and practical learning in an area a student enjoys often stimulates a student’s interest in learning beyond the books.

  • Pulaski County Schools was able to convince the state to invest in this Technology Center given how statistics showed graduates from these training programs would be offered jobs immediately by local employers and residential and commercial construction companies and would be gainfully employed for the next 20 years!

As a matter of fact, according the Beth Hargis, “we want students not just who want a job, but also students seeking a post secondary education, so in that sense we are not a traditional tech or vocational school.”

One of 55 schools of its kind in the state, and run by the State of Kentucky, the building is owned by Pulaski County Schools, but is open to all high schoolers, who are bused to and from here.  The Technology Center has invested more than $1 million in equipment alone, from state-of-the art technology, even the best automotive tools (Snap-On).
